Biography

Tarek Zayed, PhD, PE, PEng, F.ASCE, F.CSCE, F.HKIE, is a Professor and Associate Head (Research), Dept. of Building and Real Estate, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Tarek researched infrastructure/asset management, simulation, fuzzy, optimization, risk assessment, data mining, and artificial intelligence applications in construction and municipal underground systems. He has more than 30 years of professional experience working in the construction industry and academic posts in the USA, Canada, Egypt, and Hong Kong.

Tarek has published more than 550 journal and conference articles and performed research with significant funding. He is ranked top 1.0% of scholars in Civil Engineering worldwide based on a study by Stanford University.
